Resource description:
Climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of natural disturbances across European forests, while at the same time ecosystems are facing massive biodiversity reduction. In this context rewilding is emerging as a promising approach to enhance ecosystem resilience, biodiversity and climate adaptation. However, interactions between rewilding and natural disturbances remain insufficiently reflected in current policy and management frameworks.
